GPRS Setting for China Mobile and China Unicom

China Mobile is the largest mobile carrier in China. It provides GPRS/EDGE service in whole country. Most cell phone can auto set up GPRS connection however if your mobile has not this function you need to set GPRS yourself. Below is the setup option for China Mobile GPRS.

If you need to set your mobile phone as a modem and connect internet with your PC or laptop via data cable or bluetooth, you can complete setup as below:

1. Create new network connection
2. Select modem or ISDN
3. Set dial number: *99#
4. User name and password are all empty, just left them in blank
5. extra settings for modem: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","CMNET", if you want to access internet via CMWAP, just change the command to AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","CMWAP" *
* For some China Mobile data plan count traffic by CMNET and CMWAP and they have different rates.

China Mobile GPRS Plan 50 - 50 yuan for 500 MB /month, 100 yuan credit

China Mobile GPRS Plan 200 - 200 yuan for 5000 MB /month, 250 yuan credit
* roaming in China mainland supported no extra charges , voice calling supported, no monthly fee, applicable to GSM 900/1800MHz, GPRS/EDGE.


China Unicom
is the No. 2 mobile carrier in China. It also provides GPRS/EDGE service for its subscribers. You can set up China Unicom GPRS as follow:

APN: uniwap (or uninet)
Homepage: http://wap.uni-info.com.cn
WAP Gateway: 10.0.0.172
WAP Gateway Port: 80 for WAP2.0; 9201 for WAP1.2
User Name:
Password:
* user name and password are both empty

MMS:
Relay server URL: http://mmsc.myuni.com.cn

Setting for your laptop to access internet via China Unicom GPRS:

1. add your mobile phone or data card as a modem to your laptop
2. Set up modem: extra settings: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","uninet" 
3. enter *99# as dial number
4. user name and password are all empty
5. It's OK and you can connect now
